What do you need to know about the guaranteed repayment of bank (deposits) deposits in the Republic of Belarus?
In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated July 8, 2008 No. 369-Z “On guaranteed reimbursement of bank deposits of individuals”:
• individuals – citizens of the Republic of Belarus, foreign citizens and stateless persons, including those acting as individual entrepreneurs, who have concluded one or more bank account and (or) bank deposit (deposit) agreements with the bank or in whose name such agreements have been concluded, as well as their the heirs;
• applying for compensation - no earlier than 14 business days and no later than 5 years from the date of revocation of the bank's license;
• Compensation is paid within 7 business days from the date of filing the application, unless otherwise provided by Law.;
• the amount of compensation to an individual is 100% of the amount of the bank deposit, regardless of the number of bank deposits in one bank;
• the amount of compensation to an individual entrepreneur may not exceed the amount equivalent to 100,000 Belarusian rubles in one bank;
• the refund is paid in the currency of the bank deposit, the deposit in a foreign currency can be paid in Belarusian rubles (optional);
• the form of payment of compensation to an individual is possible both in cash and by wire transfer to the bank account specified in the application, and for an individual entrepreneur - by wire transfer to the individual entrepreneur's bank account specified in the application.
