The Agency of Deposit Compensation celebrates 15th anniversary today

Fifteen years ago, on behalf of the Republic of Belarus, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus established The Agency of Deposit Compensation (hereinafter – the Agency). On November 21, 2008, the Agency was registered as a legal entity.
The main purpose of the Agency's activity is to ensure guaranteed reimbursement of funds deposited by individuals, including individual entrepreneurs in banks and non-bank credit and financial organizations, in order to protect the rights and legitimate interests of such persons.
The tasks of the Agency are:
сreation of conditions for ensuring guaranteed reimbursement of bank deposits of individuals;
ensuring the implementation of state policy in the field of protection of the rights and legitimate interests of individuals;
strengthening the confidence of individuals in the banking system of the Republic of Belarus in order to attract additional investments into the economy.
The Agency also performs the functions of the interim administration for the management of the bank and the anti-crisis manager during the bankruptcy procedure of the bank.
The system of guaranteed compensation involves banks that have a license from the National Bank to attract public funds to deposits and are registered with the Agency. Today, 21 banks are registered with the Agency. At the expense of mandatory contributions from banks, the Agency's reserve is formed, from which funds the reimbursement of bank deposits is made.
Fifteen-year activity of the Agency has shown that the Agency fully ensures the implementation of state guarantees for the safety of funds of individuals placed in deposits in banks of the Republic of Belarus. At the expense of the Agency's reserve funds, depositors received compensation for more than 168 thousand accounts in the amount of more than 173 million rubles.
The Agency develops and improves its activities, implements new approaches in the organization of work, applies the best national and international practices, expands contacts, strives to comply with the basic standards of functioning of international organizations and deposit insurance systems.
The Agency is deeply grateful to colleagues and partners for long-term and fruitful cooperation and thanks everyone who contributed to the establishment and development of the system of guaranteed compensation of bank deposits!
