On 21 November 2018 Minsk Hosted International Scientific and Practical Conference Deposit Guarantee System: Challenges and Perspectives
21 November 2018, International Scientific and Practical Conference Deposit Guarantee System: Challenges and Perspectives took place in Minsk.

The Conference became the forum-place for participants from Belarusian state authorities, international financial organizations and foreign banking systems.

During the Conference presentations and speech were delivered by members of the Management Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, experts of the World Bank and International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, heads of deposit insurers-participants of the Regional Euroasian Committee and EMEA-based deposit insurance funds (DIFs) including:

Dmitri Lapko - Deputy Chair of the Board, National Bank of the Republic of Belarus;

Elena Mashnina - Head of Banking Supervision Directorate, National Bank of the Republic of Belarus;

Oleg Karnach - Head of Legal Directorate, National Bank of the Republic of Belarus;

Stanislav Sadovnikov - Deputy Director of Rehabilitation and Bankruptcy Department, Ministry of Economy;

Yury Isaev -  Director General, State Corporation Deposit Insurance Agency (ASV), Russia;

Kostantin Vorushylin – Managing Director, Deposit Guarantee Fund, Ukraine;

Mu’taz Ibrahim Barbour - Director General, Jordan Deposit Insurance Corporation (JODIC);

R. Engin Akčakoča - Senior Financial Sector Specialist, World Bank Group;

Rossen Nikolov  - Senior Financial Sector Specialist, World Bank Group;

Kumudini Hajra – Senior Research and Policy Adviser, IADI

and a number of other speakers.

Participants exchanged opinions and practical knowledge of their local DIS functioning, current state of the national deposit insurance networks and measures provisioned to ensure financial robustness and loyalty among depositors in their jurisdictions.

Profound expertise of foreign DIFs and multinational financial organizations in relation to deposit insurance mechanisms, rehabilitation and liquidation of credit and finance companies, clearance of the market from failing institutions and tools of bank resolution shall be applied by the Agency in further fine-tuning of the existing legislative framework of the Republic of Belarus.
